Salmon Derby

Aug 9th the derby started at 7 am with 109 boats a good turnout. We had strong winds from the east which made for a bumpy ride on the water, by the time I arrived to the south of the pie it was calmer. From the pie I motored over to the cape with not even a release , this was around 11 am. from there I headed north towards the welcomes where I finally hooked into a 8.4 lb salmon. around 12:30 pm. Water temp. was 42 f. 121 ft. down in 121 ft of water he must of been sleeping on the bottom. The largest fish caught was 18 lbs. a nice size salmon. There was a young angler prize this year which was a good ideal it is nice to see  younger anglers win a prize. Everybody seemed to have a good time.
